Jurgen Klopp explains Fabinho’s absence for Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp insists that his decision to omit Fabinho from his matchday squad for Liverpool FC was purely tactical

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that his decision to omit Fabinho from his matchday squad for Liverpool FC’s win over Brighton was purely a tactical one.
The Brazilian midfielder was not included in the squad for the 1-0 victory over Chris Hughton’s men at Anfield on Saturday as Mohamed Salah’s goal handed the Reds the three points.
Fabinho has been getting used to life at Anfield after having signed for the Merseyside outfit from Monaco at the start of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder has been working hard and impressing Klopp in training, but the German boss insisted that his decision to rest the Brazilian was purely tactical.
Asked about Fabinho’s absence after the game, Klopp told his post-match news conference: “We had a pre-season and he could play a lot of games.
“I have had it plenty of times, these talks in the 18 years or so of doing the job. I think I had talks like this 30 or 40 times.
“We are 100 per cent convinced, so everything will be fine – but sometimes it needs a bit longer. Is it then nice for the player not to be in the squad?
“No, but I have to make a squad for the matchday and not for matchday 15. That’s it, it’s all good. He had a really good training week – not that it was the first one but it was a really good one – and so, everything will be fine.”
Saturday’s win left Liverpool FC at the top of the Premier League table as they look to try and mount a serious title challenge this term.
The Reds will take on Leicester City in their next Premier League game next weekend as they bid to try and continue their strong start to the new campaign.
Liverpool FC have not won a trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
