Owen Hargreaves reacts to James Milner’s display in Liverpool FC’s 0-0 draw with Porto
Owen Hargreaves praises James Milner for his performance in Liverpool FC's goalless draw with FC Porto on Wednesday
Owen Hargreaves singled out James Milner as Liverpool FC’s best player during the Reds’ Champions League goalless draw with FC Porto on Tuesday night.
The Reds were completely in control of the last 16 tie thanks to their dominant 5-0 win in the first leg in Portugal last month.
And Jurgen Klopp’s men successfully booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a goalless draw at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Milner featured from the start for the Reds and his performance, particularly in the first half, earned praise from former Manchester United midfielder Hargreaves.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Hargreaves said: “He pulled the strings. He played some lovely passes. He can play out wide and he played at left-back all of last season.
“I think he prefers to play centrally. He was probably the best player on the pitch for Liverpool, controlling the midfield.”
Milner has started 11 Premier League games for Klopp’s side so far this season and has notched up eight assists in all competitions.
Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions towards their crunch clash against Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
The Reds head into the game in third place in the Premier League table, but they know that victory over the Red Devils on Saturday would lift them up above Manchester United and into second spot.
Liverpool FC are aiming to at least finish in the top four this season after they ended up fourth last term.
