Club president delivers update on Liverpool FC’s link to Nabil Fekir
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says there has been no contact with Liverpool FC about a deal for Nabil Fekir
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted that there has been no contact with Liverpool FC about a deal for the Reds to sign Nabil Fekir this summer.
Liverpool FC have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 24-year-old France international in recent days as the Reds look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
Fekir has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, and he has been touted as a target for both Liverpool FC and Arsenal in recent transfer windows.
However, Lyon president Aulas has now insisted that the French club have not had any contact with Liverpool FC about a possible deal for Fekir.
And Aulas also underlined that the French club have no intention of letting Fekir leave the club on the cheap this summer.
Speaking in an interview with SFR Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, Aulas said: “There has been no contact with Liverpool or any other club so we haven’t discussed the future.
“I know that Nabil, now that we have qualified for the Champions’ League, would really like to stay, so we will discuss things calmly.
“He has magnificently won the right to go to Russia with France, which gives him an even higher standing.
“For the moment, nothing is done. You will have to be very, very rich to sign Nabil Fekir this year.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch Champions League final clash against Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday night.
The Reds head into the game fresh from having secured a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League this season to book their spot in the Champions League for next term.
