‘They have great interest’: Hamann claims Liverpool FC keen on signing 19-year-old
Dietmar Hamann says Liverpool FC have a great interest in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool FC have a “great interest” in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund next summer, according to former Reds star Dietmar Hamann.
Sancho is widely regarded as one of European football’s most promising young attacking talents and he has been linked with a move back to the Premier League since his switch to Dortmund from Manchester City back in August 2017.
The teenager has made a brilliant start to the season for Dortmund, scoring three goals and making five assists in seven Bundesliga games for the German side.
Sancho’s form has earned him call-ups to the England squad and he played in both of the Three Lions’ recent games against Bulgaria and Czech Republic.
Now, former Liverpool FC and Manchester City midfielder Hamann has claimed that the Merseyside outfit are showing a significant interest in a potential deal to sign Sancho next summer.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Mirror, Hamann said: “What I hear is that Liverpool have great interest [in Sancho].
“I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties.
“He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
The Reds are aiming to try and get back to winning ways in the English top flight after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend as their 100 per cent start to the new campaign came to an end.
Liverpool FC will then take on Arsenal in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night at Anfield.
