John Barnes believes that Liverpool FC will not change their attacking approach when they travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Reds head into the game looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Champions League after their disappointing 2-0 loss to Red Star Belgrade at the start of the month.

Liverpool FC are currently in second place in Group C and level on points with leaders Napoli, with PSG a single point behind Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The Merseyside outfit have earned a reputation for their high-tempo attacking style of play since Klopp’s appointment back in 2015.

And Reds legend Barnes feels that Liverpool FC will not be changing their mindset just because they are playing one of Europe’s top teams away from home.

“Liverpool approach every game in the same manner home and away – they attack,” Barnes told The Sport Review, while speaking exclusively for bookmaker comparison platform BonusCodeBets.co.uk.

“Obviously the result in Belgrade wasn’t great. Now we have to try and get a result [in Paris].

“I think it’s going to go down until the last game anyway but if we beat PSG that would be a massive help.

“Klopp is always going to play the same way: 4-3-3 with three hard-working midfield players and three strong runners up front.

“They are not going to change the way they play to defend more because they’re away. Top teams don’t change the way they’re playing home or away.”

Liverpool FC’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have started to find their form in recent months.

But PSG’s own attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani are sure to test Liverpool FC’s defence on Wednesday night.

Asked which of the two sides have the best attacking trio up front, Barnes replied: “The front threes of both teams are different.

“If you look at Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, for example, they are very technically gifted players. Neymar is one of the best players in the world.

“But the Liverpool front three have much more energy – they’re much more determined and intense.

“You wouldn’t say that Sadio Mane is necessarily better than Neymar – but for the way Liverpool play, he is better than Neymar.

“The Liverpool front three is much more suited to the way we play than PSG’s front three.

“Ninety per cent of managers would probably say they would rather have Neymar than Mane or Roberto Firmino, but not for what Jurgen Klopp wants [from his team].”
