Virgil van Dijk reveals why he is loving working under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool FC
Virgil van Dijk has admitted that he is thrilled to be working under the “amazing” Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool FC.
The Netherlands defender has been settling into life at Anfield this year after having signed for the Reds from Southampton back in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first team and has already notched up four Premier League starts for Klopp’s men so far this term.
The defender has now had a few weeks of working under the German manager and he admits that he is thrilled with how his first few weeks at Anfield have panned out.
Speaking in an interview with Football Focus, Van Dijk said: “I came here to achieve everything possible.
“I made the choice to come here base on everything. I love the fans, the atmosphere in the stadium and at away games. The quality we have in our team is unbelievable. I am proud and happy to be here.
“Klopp is very good and an amazing guy as well. A lot of the attributes he has makes us achieve good things in the future.”
Van Dijk will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a home clash against Newcastle United at Anfield.
The Reds head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in third place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and better their fourth-placed finish in the top flight under Klopp last term.
Liverpool FC have already all but booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League thanks to their 5-0 win over FC Porto last month.
