Jurgen Klopp lifts lid on improved Liverpool FC defence
Jurgen Klopp has been thrilled by Liverpool FC's defensive stability so far this season
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that his Liverpool FC players have been working hard on improving their defensive performances this season.
The Reds have made a solid start to the new campaign and kept their third clean sheet in a row on Saturday when they sealed a 1-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the top flight.
Liverpool FC are currently top of the Premier League table and they are attempting to be one of the main contenders for the title this season as they bid to try and win the top-flight trophy.
Summer signing Alisson Becker has been impressing in goal for the Reds as Liverpool FC kept another clean sheet this weekend.
And Klopp admits he has been pleased with the new-found defensive stability shown by his side so far this season.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website about his side’s solid defence, Klopp said: “It’s nice. Of course we have worked a lot on it,” added the German.
“I know people will say it’s Virgil [van Dijk] – he has a massive impact. Now it’s Alisson – and he has a massive impact.
“But we had that in different formations and our good run defensively started last year in October or so. That’s absolutely good and very important for us.
“We know we’re always able to create chances but, like today, we will not always use them and then a clean sheet helps massively. I’m fine with that.
“Usually last year, very often this team stood for the spectacular; today, it was work. No problem with that. And there were nice football parts, it wasn’t a boring game, it’s only that we are ready to work for each result. That was another proof today. All good – let’s carry on.”
Liverpool FC will look to make it four wins in a row in the Premier League on Saturday when they travel to Leicester City in the top flight.
The Reds are still looking to win their first trophy under Klopp since his appointment back in 2015.
