Jurgen Klopp has insisted that it is only a matter of time before Fabinho begins to force his way into the Liverpool FC team on a regular basis.

The Brazilian midfielder has been made to wait for his first team opportunities at Anfield this term after having arrived from Monaco as the club’s first summer signing.

Many had been expecting to see the midfielder slot straight into the starting line-up at the Merseyside outfit but he didn’t feature in any of Liverpool FC’s four opening games.

Fabinho has been working hard behind the scenes at Melwood as he looks to try and impress Klopp and earn a regular spot in the first team at the Merseyside outfit.

Now, Klopp has insisted that Fabinho is simply taking slightly longer than expected to adapt to his new surroundings.

Speaking at his news conference at Melwood before Liverpool FC’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Klopp said: “I don’t like to compare players but, to be honest, we had similar questions and similar things to talk about around Robbo and about Ox.

“The thing is, it’s absolutely no problem. I don’t like the situation; it’s not that I like to say to Fabinho, who is full of energy and desire and wants to be involved, ‘you are not involved this weekend’. That’s not nice, it’s only the job to do sometimes.

“We have players that worked together now for much longer; he comes from another league, a completely different system which Monaco played, to us. We have a good team together so that takes time.

“But the plan was, and is still, that he will make us better. That’s what we are working on. That sometimes needs more time, sometimes a bit less.

“From my point of view, it’s all fine. I know the situation is not like maybe a few people would have expected but sorry, I cannot change that.”

Liverpool FC will now turn their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their group stage opener against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Merseyside outfit are aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season after they finished in fourth place and without a trophy last term.
