Jurgen Klopp sends warning to Man United after Liverpool FC thrashing
Jurgen Klopp warns Manchester United that his Liverpool FC team are out to try and beat them to second place
Jurgen Klopp has warned Manchester United that his Liverpool FC team are out to try and beat them to a second-placed finish in the Premier League this season.
Klopp’s side have been in fine form in recent weeks and the German was delighted by his side’s performance as they claimed a dominant 4-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The victory lifted Liverpool FC up into second place in the Premier League table and ahead of Manchester United, who host Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils will have to beat Chelsea FC if they want to reclaim second spot and it is clear that there is a fierce race on for a top-four finish this season.
Speaking after Saturday’s trashing, Klopp expressed his delight at seeing his side move up to second and challenged Manchester United to try and catch them.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Klopp said: “Can we stay second? That depends on other results. We don’t have to worry about that now.”
Reflecting on the 4-1 win over West Ham, Klopp added: “When I woke up this morning I didn’t expect a game like this, it was a joy to watch for everybody.
“It was intense, it was aggressive, it was angry, it was full of desire. I saw everything I wish to see in a game of football and it’s not often you see that.”
Liverpool FC now have a week off before their home clash against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday evening next weekend.
The Reds are aiming to finish in the top four once again this season after they ended up in fourth place in the table last term.
