Jurgen Klopp insists that Mo Salah is under no pressure to recreate his Liverpool FC form next season
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Mohamed Salah is under no pressure to recreate his brilliant form for Liverpool FC from last season this time around.
Salah was one of European football’s top performing players last season as he helped the Reds to finish in fourth place in the Premier League table and secure their spot in the Champions League for next term.
The Egypt international scored a staggering 44 goals in all competitions for the Reds last term as he helped Liverpool FC to reach the Champions League final as well as finish fourth.
It remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old will be able to hit the same heights this time around as he bids to help the Reds enjoy a successful campaign.
However, Klopp has insisted that Salah’s form will not make or break Liverpool FC’s season as he bids to try and help the Reds to win their first major trophy next term.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Klopp said: “I don’t think it’s too important to try it because it happened last year. If it happens again, it will happen.
“I really think it’s important that the club, the fans, and all the stuff, that we don’t overload expectations. We have to stay completely cool.
“If Sadio scores 40 times this year I have no problem with that, or Bobby [Firmino] or somebody else. I don’t care, of course, but in the moment all is fine and of course he is what we saw last year. He is a goal scorer and that’s what is his main target in the games.
“But there are still things to improve and work. First of all, we need to make sure that he can play his best football and then he will come in the situation to score and he’s there he’ll probably score again that’s how it is if it’s 40, 20, 30.
“It’s important how many goals we score as a team and not one player, so there are no big expectations from our side.”
Liverpool FC have been active in the summer transfer window after having signed Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker so far.
The Reds will be looking to challenge for the major trophies next season as they bid to try and win their first piece of silverware under Klopp.
