Jurgen Klopp issues Liverpool FC injury update on Naby Keita
Jurgen Klopp delivers the latest update on Naby Keita's injury for Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he is hoping that Naby Keita’s injury is not too serious after he picked up a problem in the 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night.
The midfielder was forced off shortly after the hour mark at Molineux after having sustained the problem.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk scored either side of half-time as the Reds claimed a 2-0 victory over Wolves and kept their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool FC fans will be hoping that Keita remains fit for the coming games as the Reds prepare for the hectic festive period.
And speaking at his post-match news conference on Friday night, Klopp played down the seriousness of the midfielder’s injury.
Klopp said: “Did you see it back the first two situations? Was it a penalty or not, because he had a proper cut on the foot and everyone said ‘diver!’, but you don’t get a cut from a dive I would say.
“Then he had another one on his ribs, so that’s obviously [why] it didn’t work out. But it should be good. Two things which are a bit painful but I don’t think will be a problem for him.”
Keita has made 14 appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool FC so far this season.
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Boxing Day with a home clash against Newcastle United, before games against Arsenal and Manchester City in the top flight.
The Merseyside outfit look set to be one of the main challengers for the Premier League title this season as they look to try and win their first trophy under Klopp.
