Alan Shearer sends warning to Liverpool FC about title challenge under Jurgen Klopp
The Newcastle legend believes Liverpool are a long way off from challenging for the Premier League title

Alan Shearer has warned Liverpool that they’re a long way off from winning the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool squandered a first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Newcastle United at St James’ Park last Sunday afternoon.
Philippe Coutinho broke the deadlock in the first half with a brilliant goal but the Reds were unable to protect their lead.
Newcastle striker Joselu levelled before the break and the Reds were unable to find a winner to secure three points.
Liverpool are seven points behind current leaders Manchester City and Manchester United after seven games.
The Reds have already conceded 12 times this season to raise serious concerns about their defence.
Liverpool will host Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Anfield on Saturday 14 October.
Former Newcastle striker Shearer warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool are a long way off in the title race.
“Liverpool have a long, long way to go if they think they’re going to challenge for the Premier League,” Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It won’t be happening this season I’m afraid.”
Liverpool have never won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds are looking to win the top-flight crown for the first time since 1990.
