Jermaine Jenas has backed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be a success at Liverpool.
The England international moved to Liverpool from Arsenal in a £40m deal in the summer transfer window as the Reds bolstered their midfield options.
Liverpool got a deal for the 24-year-old over the line on transfer deadline day despite reigning Premier League champions Chelsea agreeing a fee for the England international.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has only started one game for the Merseyside outfit since his deadline day move to Anfield after the attacking midfielder started on the right wing in a 2-0 loss to Leicester City in the League Cup.
Jurgen Klopp has used the former Arsenal midfielder as a substitute in the Premier League despite Oxlade-Chamberlain moving to Liverpool to secure regular first-team football.
The ex Southampton forward has taken some criticism from fans of his former club Arsenal and Chelsea over his underwhelming start to life at Anfield.
Former Spurs midfielder Jenas is confident that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a success at the 18-time English champions despite struggling over the past month.
“He’s taken a lot of stick over the last couple of weeks,” Jenas told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Alex is a good player. It will turn. It’s just difficult when you’re at a new club at times.”
Liverpool secured a fourth-place finish in their first full season under Klopp to book their place in the Champions League.
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window including Hull City defender Andy Robertson, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah.
