Jurgen Klopp sends direct message to Liverpool FC fans about his future
The Liverpool boss is confident that he is the right man to take the Reds forward despite a difficult month or so
Jurgen Klopp has reiterated that he thinks he’s the right manager for Liverpool.
The Reds have endured an inconsistent start to the Premier League season following a disappointing return of 12 points from their opening seven games ahead of the visit of Manchester United this weekend.
Liverpool’s defensive problems have persisted under Klopp despite his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor just over 24 months ago following a poor start to the 2015-16 campaign.
Klopp missed out on a summer deal to sign Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk and the Liverpool failed to sign an alternative to the Netherlands international to improve their defence.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss led Liverpool to the League Cup and the Europa League finals in his first seven months in charge of the Merseyside outfit.
The German coach guided Liverpool to a fourth-place finish in his first full season in charge at Anfield as the Reds booked their place in the Champions League after a two-season absence.
However, the Merseyside outfit don’t appear any closer to winning the Premier League title despite Klopp taking over from Rodgers.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference about his future as Liverpool boss ahead of the visit of Manchester United at Anfield this weekend, Klopp said:
“If they sack me now I don’t think there are a lot of managers who could do the job better than I do.
“I don’t think I’m perfect but it is quite difficult to find better options on this.
“I still think as long as 98 per cent of Liverpudlians think we are on the right way, we will succeed. That is how it is.”
