Robbie Earle says Liverpool haven’t progressed since Jurgen Klopp took over the reins at Anfield.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss replaced Brendan Rodgers in October 2015 following a disappointing start to the Premier League season.

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the table in their first full campaign under Klopp to secure a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2014.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League but finished in second place in 2002, 2008 and most recently in 2013-14 under Rodgers.

Klopp’s biggest task will be to lead Liverpool to Premier League glory to end their long wait for the English top flight crown in 27 years.

The German has a worse record than Rodgers after 74 games in charge of the 18-time English champions.

Former Wimbledon striker Earle believes Liverpool haven’t changed since Klopp took charge of the Anfield outfit.

“When Klopp took charge of Liverpool, they were a good team with a dodgy defence,” Earle told NBC Sport.

“Two years down the line, they’re still a good team with a dodgy defence.”

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles during his spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund before moving to Liverpool in 2015.

The charismatic German coach led Dortmund to the Champions League final in 2013 but lost to Bayern Munich.
