Carragher: This was Liverpool FC’s best player v Man United, he was outstanding
Jamie Carragher praises Philippe Coutinho following his display in Liverpool FC v Man United

Jamie Carragher lavished praise on Philippe Coutinho after Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Reds struggled to break down Jose Mourinho’s side at Anfield as they failed to find a breakthrough against the visitors.
Joel Matip had the best chance to break the deadlock for the home side in the first half but his close-range effort was denied by a brilliant save from David De Gea.
Coutinho was also in sparkling form for Liverpool as he continued his strong displays since being reintegrated into the team following the transfer saga over the summer.
And former Liverpool star Carragher thought that Coutinho was the best player on the pitch for the Reds on Saturday lunchtime.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “I think he was the best player on the pitch, Philippe Coutinho, certainly from Liverpool’s point of view.
“He was part of the front three. Coutinho, in that midfield role, has been outstanding since he came back into the side.”
Coutinho will be hoping to feature for Liverpool when the Reds return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a crunch clash against Maribor.
The Merseyside outfit are looking to pick up their first win in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition this season, following draws against Sevilla and Spartak Moscow.
Manchester United, meanwhile, take on Benfica on Wednesday.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will return with fresh bids to try and sign Coutinho in the January transfer window.
