The ex-Liverpool midfielder admits Mohamed Salah's resurgence reminds him of Kevin De Bruyne at Man City
Charlie Adam has likened Mohamed Salah’s impressive start to his Liverpool career to Kevin De Bruyne’s dramatic impact at Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp signed the AS Roma winger in a £39m deal in the summer transfer window to bolster Liverpool’s attacking options for the 2017-18 season.
Salah moved to Serie A in 2014 on loan from Chelsea after a difficult six months at Stamford Bridge following his £11m switch from Basel.
The Egypt international established himself as one of Serie A’s best attacking players during his two seasons at AS Roma following his loan spell at Fiorentina.
Salah has made an immediate impact at Liverpool with a return of seven goals and three assists in 11 appearances in the Champions League and the Premier League so far.
The African forward is a Chelsea reject like De Bruyne but the Belgium international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players since his £52m move to Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015.
Former Liverpool midfielder Adam admitted that he is delighted to see De Bruyne and Salah realise their potential in their second stints in the Premier League following disappointing spells at Chelsea.
“It’s strange to see that somebody like Salah who struggled at Chelsea and then went to Roma. He did great there. He came back and he has been a totally different player,” Adam told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It happened with Kevin De Bruyne. He left Chelsea and went to Wolfsburg. He came back to the Premier League and he has been a totally different player.
“It’s great to see these players come back to the Premier League and show the quality they have.”
Salah and Liverpool will make the trip to their title rivals Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
