Journalist delivers update on Liverpool’s link to top 18-year-old striker
Liverpool's reported interest in signing Kylian Mbappe from Monaco this summer is a long shot, says James Pearce

Liverpool’s interest in signing Kylian Mbappe remains a “long shot”, according to journalist James Pearce.
Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Pearce underlined the fact that the Reds’ reported interest in signing Mbappe was always going to be very ambitious.
Mbappe has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents in recent months after he helped Monaco win the French league title last season.
The 18-year-old forward has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the attacker, but Reds insider Pearce says a deal for Jurgen Klopp to bring Mbappe to Anfield this summer remains unlikely.
Pearce told the Liverpool Echo: “There is no alternative to Mbappe.
“That was always a long shot and with him seemingly out of reach, Klopp is happy to push on with the striking options he’s already got.”
Liverpool are thought to be on the lookout for a number of attacking signings this summer, but the Reds have so far only completed deals to land Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.
Klopp is preparing his team for a return to the Champions League next season after they finished fourth in the table last term.
