Garth Crooks predicts when Philippe Coutinho will leave Liverpool FC
The Spurs legend is tipping Philippe Coutinho to leave Liverpool FC next summer
Philippe Coutinho could leave Liverpool next summer and secure his move to Barcelona, Garth Crooks has claimed.
The Brazil international was heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants in the summer transfer window but a deal failed to materialise.
Liverpool rejected a number of offers from Barcelona for their number 10 before Coutinho handed in a transfer request at Anfield.
The Reds refused to alter their stance on Coutinho despite the attacking midfielder’s apparent eagerness to move to Camp Nou.
Coutinho returned to the Liverpool starting line-up at the King Power Stadium and scored a brilliant free-kick in a 3-2 win against Leicester City.
The 25-year-old attacker netted a superb team goal in a 1-1 draw with Russian side Spartak Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Coutinho scored in his third successive game in all competitions following another wonder goal in a 1-1 stalemate at Newcastle United.
Former Spurs forward Crooks warned Liverpool that Coutinho’s time at the Merseyside club could be coming to an end.
“Coutinho is at Anfield for now following the transfer saga of the summer,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“But I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if it were for one more season only, in a similar manner to Luis Suarez, who also eventually departed to Barcelona.”
Coutinho scored 13 goals and made seven assists in 31 games in the Premier League last season.
The Brazilian forward moved to Liverpool in an £8.5m deal from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the 2013 January transfer window.
