Rio Ferdinand reacts to Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw with Leicester
Rio Ferdinand has his say on Liverpool FC's 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Anfield
Rio Ferdinand felt that Liverpool FC “looked nervous” after they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Leicester City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The Reds had the chance to move seven points clear at the top of the table after Manchester City’s defeat by Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
And the home side started in brilliant fashion at Anfield when Sadio Mane curled home a fine finish in the third minute.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s men were pegged back when Harry Maguire equalised in front of The Kop deep into first half stoppage time.
The Reds were unable to find another goal as they ended up having to settle for a 1-1 draw, which left them five points ahead of Manchester City.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Ferdinand said: “I think they looked nervous, bar the first few minutes when they got the early goal.
“I think the crowd were nervous and that fed into the players.
“That’s something that Klopp will address in the coming days I’m sure.”
Mane’s opener came after a brilliant bright start from Liverpool FC in front of their home fans.
Ferdinand continued: “On the back of the result yesterday, this was the start they would’ve been talking about in the changing room. They came out and popped the ball about.
“Leicester City I think had one touch of the ball and it was from the kick-off. It was fantastic movement and patience.
“When it comes to Mane he just ups the pace of it. He puts it in the net and it’s a great finish.”
Liverpool FC will look to get back to winning ways on Monday night when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
