Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is convinced that Liverpool are on the right track this season despite the Reds’ stuttering start to the new campaign.

Liverpool have struggled to produce consistent performances under Jurgen Klopp this season but finally returned to winning ways on Tuesday night with a thumping 7-0 victory over Maribor in the Champions League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been made to wait for his first team opportunities this season since joining the Reds from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

However, he netted his first goal for the Merseyside outfit on Tuesday during the thumping victory over Maribor.

Liverpool have struggled to find consistent form in the top flight this season, with the Reds finding themselves already nine points behind leaders Manchester City after only eight games of the new campaign.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain is convinced that things will turn around for the Merseyside outfit if the Reds continue to focus on improving their game.

Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday’s win, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “Every week it feels like we have a lot of goals in us but it’s not clicking at the right moment.

“We make a lot of opportunities. If we keep creating chances and trying, hopefully they will come off for us and it did [against Maribor].”

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Reds, who are now top of their Champions League group, are aiming to improve on their fourth-placed finish in the Premier League table last term.
