Jurgen Klopp delivers latest Liverpool FC injury update ahead of Leicester trip
Jurgen Klopp gives the latest Liverpool FC team news ahead of his side's trip to Leicester City in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Liverpool will have to check on the fitness levels of Dejan Lovren, Emre Can and Joel Matip ahead of Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.
The Reds head into the game looking to get back to winning ways in the top flight after their 1-1 draw with Burnley at Anfield last weekend.
Liverpool were also beaten 2-0 by Leicester in the League Cup on Tuesday night at the King Power Stadium as they prepare to return to the same ground in the Premier League.
Defender Lovren has missed Liverpool’s last two games with a back problem , while Matip and Can both picked up injuries against Burnley last weekend.
And speaking at his pre-match news conference at Melwood on Thursday, Klopp delivered the latest injury news concerning the Liverpool trio.
Klopp said: “It’s nothing major with Dejan but it was enough to keep him out of two games and he is not in training so far, so that means he is also a doubt for the weekend, which is not too cool.
“It’s the same with, but completely different [injuries], Joel Matip and Emre Can.
“They have little bits from the last game so we have to see if they can be back in training today or tomorrow, but it’s not sure at the moment.”
Liverpool are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table after having taken eight points from their first five top-flight games.
Klopp is aiming to help his side better their fourth-placed finish in the top flight table last term as the German coach led them to Champions League qualification in his first full campaign in charge.
The Reds return to Champions League action next week with a trip to Spartak Moscow.
