Jurgen Klopp told to make this Liverpool FC signing in January
Stan Collymore is hoping that Liverpool FC sign a new defender in the January transfer window

Stan Collymore has urged Jurgen Klopp to bolster his defensive options in the January transfer window at Liverpool.
The Reds have been criticised for their stuttering displays at the back in recent weeks after their mixed start to the new Premier League season.
Liverpool have conceded more goals than any of the other teams above them in the top flight to leave them in seventh place in the table after a stuttering start to the new campaign.
The Reds were heavily linked with a move to sign defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton back in the summer transfer window but a switch failed to materialise as Liverpool ended up not signing a centre-half.
However, former Liverpool defender Collymore believes that the Reds need to address their defensive frailties in the new year.
Writing in his column for the Daily Mirror, Collymore said: “Klopp’s front-men now find themselves in a situation whereby they go into games knowing they have to score at least two to stand a chance of even a point.
“The statistics tell us teams which win the league concede between 0.82 and 0.92 goals a game — and already this season Liverpool are at 1.7.
“So there’s not much wiggle-room and until Klopp addresses his back four — and I hope he does so in the January transfer window — his side are going to find it very difficult to keep up with Mourinho and co.”
Liverpool, who finished fourth last season, are currently preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have won just three of their opening seven Premier League games, while Manchester United have only dropped points once this season to leave them second in the table.
