Kevin Keegan believes that Liverpool have no chance of winning the Premier League title this season – but is backing them to finish in the top four.

It has been something of a mixed start to the new campaign for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having only won three of their opening seven games in the top flight.

Liverpool currently find themselves in seventh place in the Premier League table and seven points behind leaders Manchester City in the wake of their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United last weekend.

The Merseyside outfit finished fourth last term and the Reds would have been hoping to challenge for the top flight title this time around.

Keegan, however, believes that it is unlikely that Liverpool will be genuine title contenders this season.

But he does feel that they will be one of the main contenders for a top-four finish.

Keegan is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “I don’t think [Klopp] is going to win the league this season.

“I don’t think even Jurgen Klopp thinks that or even the most optimistic fan.

“But top four is feasible again. Liverpool are a work in progress.

“I hope they have patience with him if it doesn’t actually go right because he is the right guy.”

Liverpool will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Manchester United at Anfield in their next crunch game on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United have been in fine form so far this season and have won six of their opening seven games.
