Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he was pestered by Liverpool FC’s scouting department about Mohamed Salah before the Reds’ move to sign the attacker last summer.
The Egypt international arrived at Anfield from Roma in the summer transfer window after weeks of speculation linking him with a move back to the Premier League.
Salah has been in sensational form for Liverpool FC so far this season and has been earning plenty of praise for his performances for Klopp’s side.
Indeed, the 25-year-old scored 13 goals and made three assists in his first 17 Premier League outings for his new club.
Salah’s improvement has been made all the more remarkable when compared to his mixed spell at Chelsea a few years ago.
Klopp has understandably been delighted by Salah’s impact at Anfield this season, but he admits that the move to sign Salah came about because of some top work by the Reds’ scouting team.
Klopp is quoted as saying by Metro: “Our scouting department did a fantastic job around Mo. They just didn’t get out of our ears about him.
“It was 100 per cent, he is ready, he is ready. They did a great job, absolutely.
“There is only a short period of the season we have played so far, but already I have been asked if I am surprised by what he is doing.
“I could be surprised if I had thought about it because I didn’t set out the number of goals I expected from him when we signed him.
“I didn’t tell him that you have to do this. We knew what we were getting was a very offensive-minded midfielder who plays a lot of games as a striker, but also has the ability to make goals, to set up goals.”
Salah will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Friday night with a crunch clash against top-four rivals Arsenal at The Emirates.
Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners over the Gunners at Anfield back in August.
