Gary Neville: 20-year-old was Liverpool FC’s best player v Man United
Gary Neville explains why he picked Joe Gomez as Liverpool FC's man of the match against Man United

Gary Neville picked Joe Gomez as his man of the match during Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 20-year-old was in particularly impressive form for the Reds against Jose Mourinho’s men at Anfield as both teams struggled to break the deadlock on Merseyside.
Liverpool struggled to break down Manchester United but came close to opening the scoring in the first half when Joel Matip’s shot was saved by David De Gea.
Manchester United, meanwhile, had their best chance to break the deadlock when Romelu Lukaku’s effort was well saved by Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.
Former Manchester United defender Neville was on commentary duty for Sky Sports during Saturday’s game and he opted to give the man of the match award to the Liverpool youngster.
Neville said: “It’s been difficult to pick a man of the match to be honest with you, but he’s had a very good game.”
Gomez himself, meanwhile, admitted that he was frustrated that his side didn’t manage to take all three points against the Red Devils.
Gomez told Sky Sports after the game: “It’s a bit frustrating for us considering the chances we had in the game but we’ve got to try and take the positives.
“It’s a point and a clean sheet against a good team, but overall we feel we dominated the game and it’s a bit frustrating for us.”
Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways in the Champions League on Tuesday night when they take on Maribor.
The Reds then return to Premier League action next weekend with a trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham.
