Jurgen Klopp sends Liverpool FC message to Loris Karius about new signing
Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool FC would still have moved to sign Alisson Becker this summer despite Loris Karius' displays

Jurgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool FC would still have moved to sign Alisson Becker this summer even if Loris Karius delivered a flawless display in the Champions League final.
Karius found himself in the firing line back in May when he made two mistakes in the Champions League final against Real Madrid to allow the Spanish side to seal a 3-1 victory in Kiev.
Liverpool FC were heavily linked with a move to sign Alisson this summer and they finally completed a move to bring the AS Roma goalkeeper to Anfield earlier this month.
However, Klopp has insisted that the Reds were always keen on a move for the 25-year-old and the signing had nothing to do with Karius’ performance in the Champions League final.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Klopp said: “If we had won the final and Alisson had been on the market we would have gone for him because we think he is the goalkeeper we want.
“The other goalkeepers are really good, like our midfielders. It doesn’t mean we tell Fabinho: ‘Sorry, we already have good players we don’t need you’.
“We bring in another one because we think we can make the next step like with Naby [Keita]. We do it and it’s the job.
“Listen, I didn’t walk through the dressing room and tell people that I was signing Fabinho or Naby Keita. ‘I didn’t say before the medical, ‘we are signing a goalkeeper’ and then it’s like, ‘oh!'”.
Liverpool FC will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and challenge for the top-flight crown.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the table last term and without a trophy after they lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.
Liverpool FC are still searching for their first major trophy since Klopp’s appointment back in 2015.
