Micah Richards is backing Manchester City to pip Liverpool FC to the Premier League title once again this season.

The Reds are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table after having made an incredible start to the new campaign under Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool FC are six points clear of Manchester City, with Klopp’s side having won all but one of their opening 11 games in the top flight.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have already lost two games and drawn one in the Premier League this season to leave Klopp’s men in the driving seat.

The two teams will do battle when Manchester City travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool FC head into the game knowing that a win would lift them nine points clear, while Pep Guardiola’s side will aim to cut the Reds’ lead down to just three points with a victory.

However, despite Liverpool FC’s dominance so far this season, former Manchester City star Richards is tipping the Sky Blues to retain their title for a third straight season this term.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Richards said: “I think City will win the Premier League this season.

“They’ve made it hard for themselves with the current situation at centre back, but City always do things the hard way.

“I would never back against City because the quality that they’ve got in the squad can turn a game on its head and the manager knows how to get the best out of every player.

“De Bruyne was a huge miss last season, but now he’s fully fit he’ll be like a new player and is pivotal in the way City like to play.

“I have to give respect to Liverpool because they are playing really well but if they pick up an injury to one of their key men, then the team loses some balance.

“If Salah, Mane or Firmino get injured, it would massively impact the way they play and make it difficult for them to maintain that level.”

Liverpool FC missed out on the title by a single point last season after they finished second behind Manchester City.
