Graeme Souness uses Liverpool FC to sum up Man United struggles
Graeme Souness pinpoints what he thinks has been Manchester United's main problem this season
Graeme Souness believes that Liverpool FC are clearly more entertaining than Manchester United this season and that is part of the reason why Jose Mourinho has found himself under pressure in recent weeks.
Ahead of last weekend’s round of fixtures, Manchester United had lost two of their last three Premier League games to put pressure on the Red Devils.
Mourinho is aiming to try and steer Manchester United into the top four this season after the Red Devils ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table in his first campaign in charge.
And former Liverpool FC star Souness believes that the main problem Manchester United have been suffering from this season is their lack of quality attacking play in front of goal.
Speaking to Sky Sports on Sunday, Souness said: “They have scored 79 [goals] City, Liverpool have scored 65 and United have scored 51 goals this year. I think that’s it in a nutshell.
“This is the Theatre of Dreams. The supporters are used to being entertained royally and watching winning football and now that’s not happening.”
Manchester United now have this week off to prepare for their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday night next week.
The Red Devils won both the Europa League and the League Cup last season in what was Mourinho’s first campaign in charge.
They will be hoping to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by beating Sevilla next month.
