BBC Sport pundit reacts to Mo Salah’s Liverpool FC display against Arsenal
Garth Crooks has his say on Mohamed Salah's display in Liverpool FC's 3-1 win over Arsenal
Garth Crooks singled out Mohamed Salah for special praise after his top performance in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday.
The Egypt international scored twice in the second half for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s men claimed a solid win in front of their home fans to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Joel Matip headed the Reds into the lead in the first half, before Salah scored a penalty after the break and then added another fine goal later in the second half.
Salah will be aiming to help fire Liverpool FC towards another Premier League title challenge this season as they look to catch Manchester City.
And Crooks was particularly impressed by the Egyptian’s display as Liverpool FC claimed their third straight win of the Premier League season.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “What a beautifully taken penalty. I’ve seen hundreds of penalties in my time but nothing quite as gorgeous as the one Mohamed Salah took against Arsenal.
“You could have had two goalkeepers in that net and neither of them could have saved it because of its precision. Poor David Luiz had one of his days. He does have them from time to time but this one was a howler. Salah skipped around Luiz for his second goal like he didn’t exist.
“Under normal circumstances Luiz would have taken Salah out but the Brazil international had already been booked.
“Which begs the question, why didn’t Unai Emery take him off and replace him with Sead Kolasinac or Calum Chambers? At 3-0 the game is over.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday evening when they travel to Burnley in the top flight.
Jurgen Klopp is aiming to help steer the Reds towards another Premier League title challenge this season after they finished a single point behind Manchester City last term.
