Jamie Carragher: Liverpool FC star has been outstanding, even in new position
Jamie Carragher heaps praise on Philippe Coutinho following his strong start to the season with Liverpool FC

Jamie Carragher has heaped praise on Philippe Coutinho as Liverpool’s “outstanding” player this season following his reintegration into the first team.
The Brazilian playmaker was heavily linked with a transfer away from Anfield during the summer window but a move for the 25-year-old failed to materialise as Liverpool refused to sell him to Barcelona.
Coutinho has since made his return to action for the Reds and has underlined his status as one of the Merseyside outfit’s key players with a string of impressive performances.
The Brazil international is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top attacking talents, and Carragher has been hugely impressed by his contribution so far this season.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Carragher said: “It’s a new position that he has been playing for Liverpool but he has been outstanding.”
Coutinho will be hoping to feature for Liverpool when the Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
The Reds are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table after a mixed start to the new season for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Liverpool, who finished in fourth place last season, were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United at Anfield in their most recent outing before the international break.
