Steve Nicol predicts where Liverpool FC will finish next season
Steve Nicol explains why Liverpool FC must challenge for the Premier League title next season

Steve Nicol has claimed that he would prefer that Liverpool FC didn’t win a trophy if it meant that they were one of the main challengers for the Premier League title next season.
The Reds are looking to bolster their squad this summer as they bid to put together a team capable of challenging for the title under Jurgen Klopp next term.
Liverpool FC have already been busy in the summer transfer market and have brought in Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker so far.
Klopp will be looking to build a team capable of challenging for the title next season, with the Reds yet to win their first major trophy under the German manager.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the table and without a trophy last term under Klopp and they will be looking to challenge for the title along with the Manchester clubs next term.
However, Nicol feels that mounting a title challenge is actually more important than lifting a trophy for Klopp at Liverpool FC next term.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Nicol said: “I would prefer if we didn’t win anything if we were second but pushed Man City all the way.
“It gives players and supporters confidence. It would be a huge step forward.”
Liverpool FC reached the Champions League final last season but ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev.
