Steven Gerrard explains why Mohamed Salah is shining for Liverpool FC
Steven Gerrard explains how Jurgen Klopp has been getting the best out of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool FC

Steven Gerrard has credited Jurgen Klopp with bringing out the best in Mohamed Salah at Liverpool FC this season.
The Egypt international has been one of the Premier League’s standout attacking players this season and he has been earning plenty of praise for his strong displays for the Merseyside outfit.
Salah netted Liverpool FC’s opener in their 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as the Reds continued their strong form in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old, who signed for Liverpool FC from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year, has now scored 24 goals and made eight assists in 28 Premier League games for the Reds.
And Gerrard believes that it is his manager who has helped to get the best form out of him this season following his move to the Merseyside club.
Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: “In my younger days I’d be running round everywhere on the pitch trying to impress. But as I got a bit older I started getting a bit more selfish, making runs centrally.
“If the ball went out wide, always attack areas where you can get goals. That’s where my numbers as a midfielder grew. And that’s what Jurgen has done to him.
“When Jurgen signed him he has said to him, ‘I don’t want you stuck out wide on the wings creating for other people, I want you to be the main man. You’re going to be the top scorer in this team, so attack the sticks and attack central areas.’”
Salah will be hoping to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a home clash against FC Porto.
The Reds have already all but booked their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition by beating the Portuguese side 5-0 in the first leg in Portugal last month.
