Liverpool FC told to make these two signings this summer
Neil Mellor says that Liverpool FC need to sign a new striker and left-back this summer
Neil Mellor believes that Liverpool FC need to bring in a new striker and left-back to add cover this summer.
The Reds squad are currently enjoying a well-earned summer break after having pushed Manchester City all the way for the Premier League title and winning the Champions League.
Liverpool FC have been earning plenty of praise for their fine attacking displays under Jurgen Klopp in recent seasons, and the Reds probably do not need to do too much in the summer transfer window thanks to the quality of their squad.
However, former Liverpool FC forward Mellor feels that the Reds could do with bringing in a new striker and a left-back this summer to add more depth to the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Mellor said: “So many players always get linked with Liverpool, that’s always the way it is,” Mellor told americangambler.com
“What I would say is that Moreno and Sturridge leaving Liverpool means more coverage needed in those positions, a left full-back for Robertson who has been outstanding, and perhaps he may look at depth with Daniel Sturridge leaving as a striker.
“One to 11, Liverpool are outstanding. There’s no doubt about that.
“There’s more to come from [Naby] Keita, [Adam] Lallana, and [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain in those midfield positions, Fabinho has settled in.
“You look at Liverpool’s squad and it is really strong, and I don’t think Jurgen will dip into the market unless he thinks someone could add even more quality, but Liverpool are in a position where they can attract pretty much any player in the market because of how they have performed.”|
Liverpool FC ended up a single point behind champions Manchester City in the Premier League title race last season.
They won their first major trophy under Klopp when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final in Madrid at the start of the month.
The Reds will be hoping to go one step further next season and lift the Premier League trophy.
