Virgil van Dijk has warned his Liverpool FC team-mates not to get carried away with their good form and position in the Premier League.

Van Dijk scored Liverpool FC’s second goal as the Reds claimed a 2-0 victory over Wolves on Friday night to keep their place at the top of the table over Christmas.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have established themselves as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season as they aim to try and win their first trophy under the German manager.

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Boxing Day with a home clash against Newcastle United before crunch games against Arsenal and Manchester City to further test their title credentials.

However, despite Liverpool FC’s fine form of late, Van Dijk has warned his team-mates that the title race is far from over.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Liverpool FC’s website, Van Dijk said: “[There is] a long way to go yet.

“It’s a position that everyone wants to be in and we are in it at the moment. That’s the only thing it is and we need to keep going.

“The next game is Newcastle United on Wednesday and then Arsenal and Manchester City, so it can change but we are not going to think about that. We take it game by game.”

Liverpool FC are the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League this season as they look to try and lift the trophy this season.

Van Dijk has been a key member of Klopp’s side and has scored one goal and made one assist in 18 Premier League games so far this term.
