Virgil van Dijk seems to be hopeful that Mohamed Salah will be able to feature for Liverpool FC when they travel to Manchester United after the international break following an injury scare for the Egypt international.

Salah had to be substituted late on during Liverpool FC’s 2-1 win over Leicester City in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday afternoon after having picked up an ankle injury.

The Egyptian was brought down by Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury and he was forced off late on in the game to raise doubts about his fitness levels ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

However, Liverpool FC defender Van Dijk does not seem to think that the injury setback is too serious, and he is expecting Salah to be fit when the Reds travel to Old Trafford on Sunday 20 October in their next Premier League game.

Asked about Salah’s injury, Van Dijk told Sky Sports, as quoted by the Daily Express: “I think he should be not too bad.

“The good thing he has plenty of time to recover. He’ll probably get a time to recover as well.

“So I’m not concerned that he’s not going to be ready for United away.”

Liverpool FC are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table after having won all eight of their opening top-flight games this season.

The 27-year-old Salah has been a key player for the Reds so far this season, scoring six goals and making three assists in 10 games in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
