Xabi Alonso is backing Liverpool FC to finish in the top four this season and once again secure qualification for the Champions League.

The Reds bounced back to winning ways in the Premier League last week when they secured a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town to lift them up into third place in the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been struggling to produce consistent displays this season but the Reds are now aiming to get their campaign on track for the run-in.

Klopp is aiming to guide his side to a top four finish and Champions League qualification for the second season running as they bid to finish in the top four once again.

The Merseyside outfit will also be looking to progress as far as possible in the Champions League after being knocked out of both domestic cup competitions.

And former Liverpool FC midfielder Alonso has set out what he thinks should be the Reds’ targets for this season.

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Alonso said: “For sure, to be back in the Champions League – that’s a must.

“And, in the Champions League… to dream and go as far as they can.

“We know in this competition with the power of Anfield, it’s a big, big boost for the team. Whoever the team is playing at Anfield, they can beat anyone. Kiev is the limit – so, why not?”

Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs head into that game full of confidence after their impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United in midweek.
