Liverpool FC fear they’ve lost out on signing quality 22-year-old German – report
Liverpool FC are expecting to see Leon Goretska sign for Bayern Munich at the end of the season, say reports
Liverpool FC are worried that they’ve lost out to Bayern Munich in the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Schalke, according to reports in the British media.
The Liverpool Echo is claiming that the Reds now believe that the Bundesliga champions are poised to snap up the 22-year-old on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The same report says that Liverpool FC have been in contact with the midfielder’s representatives about the possibility of luring him to Anfield in the summer.
But the Reds are reported to have been given “little encouragement” that a deal could be struck to bring Goretzka to Merseyside.
The story says that barring a dramatic change of heart from the player, Liverpool FC are expecting to see the German midfielder move to Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign.
Liverpool FC have already been busy in the January transfer window after confirming the signing of defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton at the turn of the year.
The Reds also agreed to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in a big-money deal earlier this month, for a fee believed to be worth as much as £145m.
