Paul Ince states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Real Madrid
The Liverpool FC legend talks up the Reds' chances of beating Real Madrid in the Champions League final
Paul Ince believes Liverpool FC can beat Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev on Saturday evening.
The Reds face the uneviable task of having to beat the current holders in Ukraine as Real Madrid look to win the competition for a third successive season.
Los Blancos have dominated the competition over the past decade having won the competition four times in the past five seasons under Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane.
However, only Real Madrid and AC Milan have won the competition more times than Liverpool FC, who last got their hands on the European Cup in 2005.
In fact, Liverpool FC can move clear of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich if Jurgen Klopp’s side manage to beat Real Madrid this weekend.
The Merseyside outfit set a Champions League record this season following an incredible return of 46 goals in 14 games.
Former Liverpool FC star Ince talked up the Reds’ chances of winning the Champions League.
“When people ask whether Liverpool can do it?” Ince told Paddy Power.
“I think they’re crazy, of course they can. Yes, they’re the underdog, but they know to win a European trophy better than most.
“They won’t get a better chance to win it than they will on Saturday night.”
Liverpool FC were 1-0 winners against Real Madrid in the European Cup final in Paris in 1981 after Alan Kennedy’s winner.
The Reds beat Spanish opposition in the 2001 Uefa Cup thanks to a 5-4 golden-goal success against Deportivo Alaves.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Sevilla in the Europa League final in 2016.
