Liverpool FC set to win race to sign highly-rated 22-year-old – report
Liverpool FC look poised to win the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Schalke on a free transfer next summer, say reports

Liverpool FC are poised to win the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Schalke on a free transfer next summer, according to reports in Germany.
German newspaper Bild, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that the Merseyside outfit are set to beat the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to the 22-year-old midfielder’s signature in the summer.
The report comes just days after Liverpool FC managed to pull off something of a transfer coup by securing the signing of defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a big-money deal.
The same report says that both Arsenal and Spurs had a strong interest in signing Goretzka but it is Liverpool FC who look set to bring him to the Premier League in the new year.
Goretzka has scored four goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances for the Schalke first team so far this season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Burnley on Monday in their first game on 2018.
The Reds are looking to at least finish in the top four once again this season after they secured Champions League qualification under Jurgen Klopp last term.
Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League in the new year.
