Thierry Henry praised Liverpool FC for their slick and quick attacking football during their 2-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds were in solid form from the off at St Mary’s and it was Roberto Firmino who fired the Merseyside outfit into the lead in the sixth minute after a quick counter-attacking move.

Mohamed Salah then made it 2-0 to the Reds three minutes before half-time when he netted from close range following Firmino’s flick.

The Reds claimed the three points and sealed what could prove an important victory in the race for Champions League qualification.

The win left Jurgen Klopp’s men in third place in the Premier League table and just two points behind second-placed Manchester United as the race for a top-four finish hots up.

And Arsenal legend Henry was particularly impressed by Liverpool FC’s free-flowing attacking football in the first half of the Premier League clash.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Henry said: “As you blinked, the ball was in the back of the net.

“I think it was six touches, three passes and it’s a goal.

“It’s what you do on the ball that makes a difference – if you keep on passing the ball sideways when you can have a counter like that… it’s a bit obvious but true.”

Liverpool FC will return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to FC Porto for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 clash.

The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
