Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Swansea
The Liverpool legend is backing Jurgen Klopp's men to ease to a resounding win against Swansea on Tuesday night
Mark Lawrenson is confident Liverpool FC will ease to a comfortable win against Swansea as long as Jurgen Klopp doesn’t make wholesale changes to his Reds team.
Swansea are still without a manager following the sacking of Paul Clement last week but Swans legend Leon Britton will take charge for their trip to the Merseyside outift on Tuesday night.
Liverpool FC were forced to settle for a 3-3 draw at top-four rivals Arsenal on Friday night and the Reds have now scored 41 goals in 19 outings in what is an ominous tally for Swansea.
The Reds have score 14 times in their Premier League games at Anfield this term, while the fourth-placed team have only conceded three goals in nine games despite criticism of their defensive record this term.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Klopp’s attack to break down the Swansea defence on Tuesday night despite succumbing to five stalemates at Anfield this season.
“I think Liverpool will get some goals, but my only reservation would be if their manager Jurgen Klopp looks ahead to their next game, against Leicester on 30 December,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“If he tries to rest players against Swansea so they can face the Foxes then they are asking for trouble.
“Klopp needs to start with his strongest team on Boxing Day – that way, he can try to get the game won as early as possible and then start taking players off if he has to.”
Liverpool FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and a point ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth spot.
The Reds will take on Portuguese giants FC Porto in the Champions League last 16 in February.
The Merseyside outfit haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
