Jurgen Klopp believes Adrian is the “perfect solution” for Liverpool FC after the Reds signed the Spanish goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet.

Adrian has put pen to paper on a short-term deal with Liverpool FC after the 32-year-old completed a free transfer following his exit at West Ham earlier this summer.

The Spanish shot-stopper will be tasked with acting as Alisson Becker’s understudy at Liverpool FC after Simon Mignolet completed a permanent move to Club Brugge on Monday.

Adrian made 150 appearances during six seasons at West Ham following his move to the Premier League from Spanish side Real Betis in the 2013 summer transfer window.

Liverpool FC boss Klopp is delighted to have replaced Mignolet with another experienced Premier League goalkeeper to put pressure on Alisson for a starting spot.

“I think this is the perfect solution for us in this moment, replacing talent and experience like for like,” Klopp told Liverpool FC’s website.

“With Ali and Simon, I felt like we had two ‘No.1s’ and in many ways we have repeated that with Adrian. This is important.

“He is a ‘keeper who knows the Premier League, who has played in pressure situations and has the highest quality.

“They are big gloves to fill because Simon was such an outstanding professional and contributed to the group even when not in the starting XI. Everything we know about Adrian tells us he has the personal qualities to go with his clear playing talent to ensure this area of the team is not weakened.

“We’re all looking forward to working with him.”

Mignolet was signed by Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers in a £9m deal from Sunderland in the 2013 summer transfer window.

The Belgian shot-stopper was part of the Liverpool FC team that finished four points behind Manchester City in the 2013-14 title race.

Mignolet was a runner-up in the League Cup and the Europa League, while the Belgian star was on the bench for both of Liverpool FC’s Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019.

Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
