Mark Lawrenson names Liverpool FC star who is worth £60m under Jurgen Klopp
The Liverpool FC legend believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has doubled in value at Anfield
Mark Lawrenson has credited Jurgen Klopp with significantly improving Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool FC.
The Reds signed the England international in a £40m deal from Arsenal in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Liverpool FC managed to see off competition from Chelsea FC in the transfer window and Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down a new contract with Arsenal.
The 24-year-old made a slow start to his career at the Merseyside outfit as Klopp used the England international sparingly in the early stages of the 2017-18 season.
Howver, Oxlade-Chamberlain came into his own in the second half of the campaign and played key role in their top-four challenge.
The summer signing has scored three goals and has made seven assists in 32 appearances in the Premier League.
He netted a brilliant long-range goal in Liverpool FC’s 4-3 win over Manchester City in the Premier League at Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain broke the deadlock in the Merseyside outfit’s 3-0 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final earlier this term.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson believes Oxalde-Chamberlain has doubled in value since his move to Anfield.
“Look at Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this season,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power.
“He’s been at a top club before, been an international, and Klopp’s thought he can improve him, so if Liverpool pay £30m for him, in the end, he could be worth double that.
“That signing was a no-brainer for Klopp because he knows he can make him better.”
Liverpool FC signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window.
