Jurgen Klopp replies when asked about Liverpool FC signing Christian Pulisic
The Liverpool FC manager replies to transfer speculation linking the Reds with a swoop to sign Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic
Jurgen Klopp has remained coy when asked about the possibility of Liverpool FC signing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in the future.
Pulisic has been a long-term target for Liverpool FC since Klopp took over the reins from Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.
The German head coach was in charge of Dortmund when Pulisic moved to Westfalenstadion from United States as a youth player.
The 19-year-old playmaker has emerged as a key player for Dortmund over the past season or so after Ousmane Dembele moved to FC Barcelona last summer.
Speaking to the media about Liverpool FC’s interest in Pulisic, Klopp said:
“He still has 14 or 15 years to play in his career and that’s good and he wants to be the best Pulisic he can be.
“For this, there is still space for development. If – at one point – he will join us, I don’t know. I like him, it’s not that that could be the problem, but we respect contracts still and there’s no market I know about at the moment. We did our business and Dortmund are doing theirs. All good.”
The Reds have been one of the busiest clubs in the Premier League this summer after the Merseyside outfit spent around £168m on four players in the current transfer window.
Liverpool FC started their summer spending with the £39m addition of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho before Naby Keita finally secured his £48m switch to the Anfield outfit.
The Reds brought in Swiss forward Xherdan Shaqiri in a cut-price deal from relegated Stoke City, while Liverpool FC made Alisson Becker the world’s most expensive goalkeeper following a £67m switch from AS Roma.
