Jamie Carragher instructs Liverpool FC to sell 29-year-old
Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher believes the Reds should listen to offers for Dejan Lovren this summer

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool FC should cut their losses and sell Dejan Lovren this summer.
The Croatia international has been a divisive figure at Anfield since his £20m move to Liverpool FC from Southampton under Jurgen Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers back in 2014.
Lovren was rated as one of the Premier League’s most promising defenders at the time of his big-money switch to the 18-time English champions.
However, the 29-year-old, who was signed to be Carragher’s long-term replacement, has failed to live up to expectations and has been criticised for a lack of composure on and off the ball.
Lovren has fallen down the pecking order since Klopp made Virgil van Dijk the world’s most expensive defender following a £75m move for the Southampton centre-half in 2018 January transfer window.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip were both successful centre-half partners alongside Van Dijk in the 2018-19 Premier League season as Lovren spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher believes Lovren’s time at Anfield is at an end.
“He’s far too injury prone for me, so if someone made a good offer and you could buy someone without breaking the bank [you should sell him], because you’ve got Gomez there who was outstanding at the start of the season, you give him one more chance as well,” Carragher told the Anfield Wrap.
“Unfortunately for him [Lovren], he gets a lot of injuries and you can’t afford to have players in your squad who get injured all the time.”
Liverpool FC will take on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid next Saturday.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished a mere point adrift of champions Manchester City this term.
