Divock Origi could sign a new long-term deal with Liverpool FC, according to Kristof Terruer
Divock Origi is likely to commit to a four or five-year deal with Liverpool FC, according to Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur.
The Liverpool FC striker is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2019-20 Premier League season unless the Reds are able to secure the centre-forward’s long-term future.
Origi was used as an impact substitute throughout the 2018-19 season last term as he was a back-up striker alongside Daniel Sturridge for Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice attack.
The former Lille forward did score some important goals in the Premier League, including late winners in victories over Everton and Newcastle United.
Origi netted twice in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final to help the Reds secure a place in the Madrid showpiece.
And the Belgium international scored Liverpool FC’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final to help the Reds win the competition for a sixth time.
Belgian reporter Terreur is now tipping Origi to sign a new long-term deal with Liverpool FC.
“Liverpool offered him a new contract before the Champions League final,” Terruer told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast.
“They’ve been talking to the agent after the final. The player hasn’t made a decision. He has been promised a bigger role next season now Sturridge has left. They’ve offered him good money.
“I think he will sign new deal for four or five years.”
Origi moved to Liverpool FC in an £11m deal from Ligue 1 side Lille in the 2014 summer transfer window under Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds finished in second place in the Premier League last season, a point adrift of champions Manchester City.
