Liverpool FC are in pole position to sign Emerson Palmieri from Roma this month, say reports in Italy
Liverpool FC are in pole position to sign defender Emerson Palmieri from Roma this month, according to reports in the Italian media.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is claiming that Liverpool FC are in fact ahead of Chelsea in the race for the 23-year-old’s signature.
The same report says that Chelsea have already made an enquiry to sign Emerson this month but that Liverpool FC are now leading the chase for his signature.
The story also claims that Roma are likely to demand a transfer fee of around £22m for Emerson this month.
The Brazilian has only made two appearances for Roma so far this season after recently recovering from a serious injury.
Liverpool FC have already been busy in the January transfer window after having completed the signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a big-money deal at the start of the month.
The Reds will also have money to burn this month after having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a transfer fee believed to be worth as much as £145m.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Swansea City on Monday night as they look to keep up their bid for a top-four finish.
