Jurgen Klopp needs to spend money on a proven goalkeeper to improve his Liverpool FC team, according to Richard Dunne.
The Liverpool FC manager has stuck with Simon Mignolet in goal in the Premier League this season despite the Belgium international’s inconsistent performances.
The ex-Sunderland man was dropped at the start of the season before he was restored to the Reds line-up in December following Loris Karius’ poor displays.
While Klopp inherited Mignolet from his predecessor Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool FC boss recruited Loris Karius in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga club Mainz.
However, the former Manchester City youth goalkeeper has lacked composure and presence in the Liverpool FC goal to prompt questions about his ability to become a further No1.
Liverpool FC were linked with a potential move to sign Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas from FC Porto in the summer.
Former Manchester City defender Dunne believes Klopp needs to invest in a top goalkeeper given the doubts around Karius and Mignolet.
“Even with the goalkeepers,” Dunne told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“Both goalkeepers have continuously made mistakes. Karius might turn out to be good. Mignolet isn’t good enough.
“They should spend some money on a proven goalkeeper.”
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad ahead of the new seasons.
Summer signing Mohamed Salah has scored 14 times in 16 games in the Premier League since his big-money switch to Anfield from AS Roma.
