Liverpool want to sign 31-year-old former Arsenal star – report
Liverpool are weighing up a transfer move to sign Gael Clichy after he was released by Manchester City, say reports
Liverpool are interest in signing Gael Clichy on a free transfer this summer after the defender was released by Manchester City, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Reds are keen on a move for the 31-year-old left-back, who was deemed to be surplus to requirements at The Etihad by Pep Guardiola this summer.
James Milner has been filling in at left-back for Jurgen Klopp’s men but the story states that the German manager is keen to bring in reinforcements in that position as he prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.
The story suggests that Liverpool have offered former Arsenal star Clichy a two-year deal to join them this summer.
The article also claims that Andy Robertson remains a target for the Reds and that the Merseyside outfit are also keeping tabs on Benjamin Mendy.
Klopp is likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as he looks to assemble a squad capable of fighting on four fronts next season.
